Precision Fabrication

Precision Fabrication

Turn to us for your precision fabrication needs. We have more than 25 CNC milling and lathe machines and can produce Swiss-turned and routed parts. Atlas Fibre machines all glass and phenolic thermosets and almost all types of thermoplastics.

More Than 60 Years of Custom Plastic Parts Fabrication

Atlas Fibre is uniquely qualified to machine or fabricate your components. We have more than 60 years of experience, and our expertise goes beyond just fabrication with our ability to act as a Resource Center for your application by helping specify the right material. Selecting the right material for better wear, better resistance to corrosion, weight reduction, and noise reduction can often lead to cost savings and longer life of the part.

What Sets Us Apart

  • The largest stock of thermoset sheet and rod material in North America for immediate access for machining and fabrication.
  • Thermoset materials available include phenolics, glass epoxies, glass melamine, and glass silicone.
  • We also specialize in the machining of high-performance advanced engineering thermoplastics including Vespel®, PEEK®, Torlon®, PPS, Ultem®, PTFE, Nylon, and Acetal.
  • Atlas Fibre is a “resource center” for your selection of thermoplastics to suit the needs of your particular application.

Choosing the Right Materials

When you need precision fabricated components, one of the most important decisions to make is the material type. We offer a wide range of thermoset materials as well as thermoplastics. While we can help you choose the best option based on your needs, it helps to have a general understanding of the differences.

Thermoplastic materials are polymers, and they can be heated, melted, and shaped numerous times. This is one of the major differences between thermoplastic and thermoset materials. A thermoset material can’t be remelted and reshaped — once it has hardened, that’s its final state.

Beyond that, there are several other factors to think about when choosing a material. You want to consider how you’ll use the finished product and the requirements you have for it. Will you need a material that is very rigid and sturdy, or soft and flexible? Also consider the texture and feel of the material, as some are slippery and low-friction while others have more grip.

You don’t have to know exactly what type of material you want when you contact us. Discuss your project with our experts to receive recommendations based on what we think will serve you best.
